I figured since this is a relatively new forum. Why not learn a bit about one another.

How many tri's you done?
Whats your distance?

A couple in the 2008 BSG Energade, more in the 2009 series and hopefully most of them in 2010. Hope to complete my first standard distance triathlon at the event at the Vaal on the 16th Dec 2010 and just perhaps tackle the iron man next year. Need to buy a bike though

Well I have not done any yet. Busy training hard to get into it next year. I also need to get a bike first and all the other obvious gear except for my running shoes.

I discovered triathlons last year and watched all the events. I'm an ok swimmer, slightly better runner and stronger on the cycle cuz of my legs. I was hoping to do one by myself this year but realise now that I am not strong enough yet! I will be participating in a team though and hopefully will be ready to do all the disciplines next year

@ Grogpage, anything to build this forum. I think its a little hard to start a forum already, thought I'd help the guys out a little. Road bike or TT bike?

Adoons thats good news there are some shorter distances towards the end of this year, excellent fun for those first timers and great practice for transitions.

@thandeka. good to hear you went from spectator to racer, keep the motivation up soon you'll be loving it. PS. Its addictive, so be prepared to not stop!!

Dom - thanks for helping to ignite some momentum....keen for this forum to become the defacto forum site for triathlon, and hopefully other multi-sport athletes. Your question is the million dollar one, at last milestone it was a road bike with a TT bike frame and the ability to move wheels and gear system across. Chris Felgate our Elite team manager is helping me with this. So the right answer is - just need a bike, any bike to start cycling again so I avoid the usual scenario of having my first cycle at the first race of the series.

Ok i have done 2 full Ironman in South Africa and 2 half ironman in South Africa

second season on the BSG race calendar and competed at the SA champs in Germiston as a age grouper...

My aim for 2011 is to get selected for the ITU World Championships in the Olympic distance.

A good aim Francois! Use the BSG Energade Triseries to 'hone' your speed so that selection for Worlds at SA OD Champs in March next year will not be an issue!

Hello,
I just joined this site a month ago. Just moved home from America and want to start triathlons. taking part in tomorrow's one at Roodeplaat dam. will be my first one ever! quite nervous and excited at the same time. I am a tennis player by nature so the running and cycling is not too bad but the swimming is something I have been working on. Hope it goes ok tomorrow. Cheers
