2011 BSG Energade Triathlon Series
In 2011 multi-sport fans dusted off their bikes, shook out their running shoes and donned their swimming caps as they prepared to pit their skills against the best and the rest in the ever-popular BSG Energade Triathlon Series!
This three discipline, seven event Series held in major centres around South Africa was for everyone, from South Africa's Elite triathletes looking for a tough competitive challenge, to experienced triathletes looking for diverse race conditions and trying to beat a personal best, to first-timers seeking an enjoyable way to get fit and have fun with other athletes! And the whole family could compete, with the kids series and the opportunity to race as a family team.
The 2011 BSG Energade Triseries offered participants several awesome new additions and changes that were made in the spirit of making your experience as a triathlete even better, helping to grow this wonderful sport, maintaining all the great stuff from 2010, while at the same time ensuring a safe and well run event. In 2011 we made improvements to your on-line experience through the BSG Multisport portal, chosen venues where road closures and water quality maximised athlete safety, redesigned the race schedule so there was a separate Elite race, multiple start waves to manage participant numbers in the swim, and ensured that our Kiddies series was better than ever.
2011 BSG Energade Kids Triathlon Series
We're committed to the future of our country, our communities and the sport of triathlon. The BSG Energade Kids Series 2011, powered by Jungle Bar, supported all of these objectives by providing a safe, enjoyable and accessible opportunity for children of all ages to get exposed and excited about sport.
At the 2011 BSG Energade Kids Series there was a dedicated kid's area set up at each venue to ensure that moms and dads could race and compete themselves, with complete confidence that that their children were having fun and being looked after. Then the kids had their turn to have fun and participate in one of our three age-specific kid's races. We adjusted the race day schedule to make sure that it was possible for all members of the family to take part and enjoy the day.
To ensure that we catered for the needs of all our kiddies, we had an awesome race pack with lots of goodies, including a sponsors swimming cap and series T-shirt, both of which needed to be worn during the event. Each finisher was also presented with a medal and an ice cold Energade Champs cooldrink. We had separate race starts and distances for all our kiddies' age categories, while we continued as we did in 2010, to ensure a little more competitive spirit in the 12-15 years age group by timing each participant in the race. We also increased the distance in this older kids age group to a 400m swim, 10km bike and a 2.5km run, so that it was in line with the normal triathlon race distance for 12-15 years. Start training early to make sure that you are ready to take on these increased distances in the 2012 Kids Triathlon Series.
With the combination of dedicated facilities, a focus on making the Kids Series as accessible as possible for all kids and families, and above all a priority of HAVING FUN, there is no better way to spend a Sunday morning as a family than getting involved in the Kids Series!
