Penultimate event of the 2011 BSG Energade Triseries this Sunday the 20th of November at Brandvlei Dam in Worcester
The penultimate event of the 2011 BSG Energade Triseries will be taking place this Sunday the 20th of November at Brandvlei Dam in Worcester. The starting line will consist of at least 489 participants in the Main Series and over 84 young triathletes in the Kids Series. Organisers have confirmed that they will be accepting on the day entries between 6:00 – 7:00 (a late entry levy will apply for all on the day entries).
In the Elite Men’s race, all eyes will be on Richard Murray (Team BSG), who won the Roodeplaat, Midmar and PE events. Richard will be looking to secure another gold to put him firmly at the top of the Elite Men’s leaderboard. Competing for podium finishes and valuable points for the leaderboard are nineteen-year-old Abrahm Louw (Team BSG), Theo Blignaut and Claude Eksteen (both from Team Inov-8), Henri Schoeman (Team Future Life) and Jeff Norton (Team Mr Price).
In the Elite Ladies’ race, Andrea Steyn (Team BSG) will be looking to continue her phenomenal winning streak to make it six out of six. She will be facing competition from Carlyn Fischer (Team Inov-8) who was hot on her heels at the Pollock Beach event last Sunday. Other challengers for podium positions include Rosalyn Laurens (Team Future Life), Riana de Lange (Ocean Basket), Carla van Huysteen (Team Inov-8), Vicky van der Merwe (Team BSG),as well as Tayla Glover (Team Mr Price).
In the Main Series, Junior athlete Mnandi Weber will be looking to increase her total score as she is currently in second position on the leaderboard – will she be the fastest lady across the finish line and secure enough points to take the title in the Junior (15-19) category? Development teams from the LEAP Science and Maths School will also be competing at Sunday’s event and it will be fantastic to watch these young athletes in action.
Over 84 children (across the various age categories) are competing this Sunday in the BSG Energade Kids Triseries. The dedicated kids’ area, powered by Jungle Bar, will once again be providing parents with the freedom to focus on their own race in the knowledge that their children will be well taken care of and entertained until their races later in the morning.
Pinelands North Primary School is looking set to win the cash prize of R5000 for the school with the highest number of entries on the day. In the Triseries Challenge, the friendly rivalry between St Mary’s DSG and St Dunstan’s College has intensified, with a mere 63 points separating the two schools. Both schools will be pulling out all the stops to ensure that they win the overall Schools Challenge title. In the Tertiary category, rivalry continues between athletes from the University of Pretoria and the University of Witwatersrand. Deloitte are still topping the leaderboard in the Corporate category as they continue to build on their substantial lead.
With a packed field of competitors looking to secure a podium finish, don’t miss your chance to be at this exciting event!
