BSG Elite athlete Richard Murray has once again made history, becoming the first African athlete to top the ITU World Triathlon Series rankings.
2012 has been a truly phenomenal year for Olympic-bound Murray. He began the year with a second place finish at his first World Triathlon Series race in Sydney (another first for an African athlete) and more recently he competed at the ITU race in San Diego, where he claimed the bronze medal – the combination of these two incredible results means that Murray is currently leading the 2012 ITU World Triathlon Series rankings and he has moved up to 28th in the Olympic rankings (15 places higher than his Olympic ranking prior to the San Diego race).
“Someone pinch me. 3rd Today in San Diego, on near flat legs, and now I’m the series leader. Thanks for an amazing event” Murray told the ITU media after his bronze medal finish.
